Nick formed Electrical Consulting Services in 1991 as the engineering division to support an electrical contracting business. He has been involved in the electrical industry for over 35 years and brings a wealth of experience and skills to the company.

In 2005, Thurston Consulting Ltd amalgamated with Electrical Consulting Services to provide electrical, telecommunications, and security design services as a cohesive team.

Nick is strongly linked throughout the industry and brings a high level of value throughout a project. Whether it is negotiating with local authorities, master planning exercises for future development, finding solutions to complex engineering problems, or ensuring a project is constructed to a high level, he is the person you want in your corner.

Outside of work you will find Nick running, cycling and skiing.

Nick is our Mechanical Manager / Team Leader who is passionate about mechanical engineering. Nick began his career in Building Services back in 2003 with experience that widely covers New Zealand, South East Asia, and the USA. Nick has been involved in many projects across multiple sectors including industrial, education, retail, hotels, residential and commercial.

In his spare time, Nick enjoys playing hockey, coaching kids soccer teams, and spending time with his family.

Ken is our hard-working technical manager/senior engineer. He has extensive experience across a broad range of industries including commercial, industrial, hotels, schools, and various community projects - just to name a few.

Anthony is our resident Building Scientist; he specialises in sustainable design with experience designing mechanical HVAC systems.

He is motivated by supporting clients achieve their sustainable goals by creating high performance, energy efficient buildings.

Outside of work, you’ll find Anthony at local cafes with his wife and dog.

Rod is a Chartered Accountant and is originally from Zimbabwe. He has beenwith ECS since 2002 and looks after the finance, accounting and administrationof the business.

Outside of work he keeps fit by swimming regularly and enjoys the odd roundof golf. He is passionate about cricket and is on the board of East Coast Bays Cricket Club.

Shan is a great asset to the team infecting others with her big smile and happy personality. She helps Rod to look after all of the accounts and you will likely talk to her regarding anything financial.

When you call Thurston, it is likely Lucy that you will talk to first. She is an amazingly positive person who provides great support to Nick Topp, the engineers in the office, and to those that call on Thurston.

Outside of work, Lucy loves spending time with family and friends, dreaming about classic cars, and watching films.
